Why does my test email display the "wrong" information?

If you send yourself a test email from the Email Settings page, you may notice it does not pull in the data that you expected. For example, it may show an unexpected total or name. That is because when you send a test email from Email Settings, it is not attached to any actual deal. And if you use a Liquid variable, it may pull in default data for that variable. The default total is $0.00, and the default name is John Smith. This is simply placeholder data so you can see the overall appearance of your emails.

If you want to see exactly how a particular email will look before sending it to a customer, send yourself a test email from the within the quote/invoice itself instead!
